Personal intellectual property should be declared within a conflict of interest declaration in the following situations:

  • Personal Intellectual property should be declared upon initial hiring at the NRC or if there is a
  • change in situation that might give rise to a real, apparent, or potential conflict of interest in relation to
  • your official duties and responsibilities.  Ask yourself if a reasonable third party could perceive that your
  • personal IP may impact your ability to be impartial and objective.  If so, then complete a COI declaration. 
  • As an example, it may be a real or apparent conflict of interest if you have personal IP that is licensed to or co-owned by a company that is also a client of the NRC.
