  • You can accept sponsored travel or conference attendance if you have the following:
  1. written approval from your manager, and
  2. approval from the senior ethics officer if there is a possible conflict of interest.
  • In this case you would complete a conflict of interest declaration.
  • The senior ethics officer and your manager may approve of the sponsorship if it is determined that its acceptance would bring sufficient benefit to the organization and a value added for an NRC employee.  An example where sponsored travel or conference attendance may be acceptable is when the third party payment or reimbursement is considered an important form of recognition for a scientist.
  • If it is a benefit to the organization, then NRC funding may be identified to cover the cost of the travel, conference or event.
