Adherence to NRC’s Policy on Conflict of Interest is a condition of employment. An employee who has not complied with the requirements set out in the COI Policy may be subject to disciplinary measures, up to and including termination of employment.
In addition, soliciting or accepting a commission, reward, advantage or benefit of any kind from a person or organization that has dealings with the Government of Canada, without obtaining the required written consent by the NRC president or the Senior Ethics Officer, is an offense under the Criminal Code, as well as a serious breach of the COI Policy. This could be considered a bribe.
